Tori’s surgery was a success. I waited with his grandparents in the waiting room while he was in surgery. When the doctor came out to get us to bring us back he seemed happy to see me.

“The beautiful Lisa. I see you took good care of my boy. He asks for you to come in first.” The doctor said.

“Oh no, his grandparents can see him first.” I responded feeling weird and uneasy.

Tori was good for choosing me over everybody in his life and I did not like it one bit. His grandparents pretty much raised him, and he asked for me to come into the recovery room to see him first. He was annoying as hell.

“Lisa, you will be caring for him so it is good for you to come in the recovery room to speak with the nurses and myself so we can discuss the post surgery routine.” The doctor said. He was not taking no for an answer.

“Go on ahead baby. You bring joy to Tori. He needs you more than he needs us right now.” Mrs. Greene said.

I looked at Mr. Johnny, he motioned for me to go ahead with an arm and hand gesture. I followed the doctor back into the room Tori had been placed in until he was released later.

“How you feeling baby?” I asked Tori.

He had his head turned the opposite way. When he heard my voice he turned towards me with a slight smile.

“I feel high. They gave me too many painkillers.” Tori said.

He sounded like he had been drugged.

“Babe, you need the pain killers so you won’t be complaining about the pain.” I responded.

“Yeah, I guess you are right. You getting me out of this bed? I asked them to bring you back here because you Bonnie, I know you gonna break me out.” Tori said.

He was being silly but serious at the same time.

“We will get you out of here soon. My nurse is going to write up your prescriptions, test you a little, and in a few hours you will be getting released.” The doctor responded.

“See, you’ll be back at the apartment in no time.” I said rubbing Tori’s head.

“Okay, kiddos. Let’s talk business. Tori you need to let your leg heal, but don’t be a punk about it. I mean after one week start putting weight on it. It is going to hurt but you are a tough guy. If you want to make it back on the court you are going to have to follow directions. And for you, the beautiful Lisa, I need you to reinforce these things. When he needs to go to the bathroom, after the first week, let him go alone. Anywhere that is a short distance and you know he can make it alone, allow him too. Babying him will delay the healing process. And guys, no sex injuries. You don’t know how many young guys come back to me with a banged up leg because of an injury during sex. I want to see you at my office in 2 weeks.
